About Jeff

This is My Story

Hi! I'm Jeff Freestone and I live in the small remote town of Omeo, nestled in the heart of the Victorian High Country. My family and I moved here in 2017 from Melbourne seeking a quieter life, away from the hustle and bustle, to raise our children.

After finishing high school, I followed a very typical path that most do, landing a corporate job, getting married and having kids. It wasn't until we had our first child that my wife and I both noticed how despondent we had become about our lives, our jobs and where we lived. We began reading about people in similar situations that had started seeking more meaning and intention in their life, people who had followed a similar path, one that society deemed will lead to 'success and happiness', the only thing was they weren't happy, and neither were we.

We immersed ourselves in reading more about similar people's stories and how they had started to take ownership of their life by focusing more on doing the things they loved and less on the accumulation of material possessions.

It wasn't before too long that we both agreed on making a change, and within a short space of time we had quit our jobs, sold our house, packed our car and were headed for the high country.

Upon arriving, I was immediately drawn to the vastness of the landscape and the beauty of the natural world, something I felt I had never really noticed. This led me to take out my camera, which had never been far away but mostly just used on holidays, to try and capture the scenes that had me so captivated.

What started out as a new hobby quickly turned into something that would soon consume all of my free time and resulted in a desire to learn as much as I could about the art of photography. My previous love for art and creativity, which had been lost for many years during my time chasing money and status, would eventually return in the form of photography and would ultimately become my new tool for artistic expression.
